Arajet Launches Punta Cana–Mendoza Route, Consolidating Argentina Expansion

Dominican ultra-low-cost carrier Arajet has officially launched its new nonstop service between Punta Cana and El Plumerillo International Airport in Mendoza, Argentina. This strategic new city-pair not only strengthens air connectivity between the Caribbean and South America but also expands travel options for the Argentine market via streamlined, low-friction connections to multiple international destinations.

Operational Overview and Regional Connectivity

The new route will operate three times a week, providing passengers departing from the Mendoza province with direct access to one of the Caribbean’s premier leisure hubs.

Beyond point-to-point traffic, the architecture of Arajet’s network at its Punta Cana hub will allow Mendoza-based travelers to utilize optimized connections to more than nine international destinations across the Americas, including:

With this milestone, Mendoza becomes the third Argentine city to see direct operations from the carrier, joining its established network in Buenos Aires and Córdoba. In June, Arajet will add a fourth destination in the country when it inaugurates flights to Rosario.

“Today we celebrate a major step in our regional expansion and our commitment to bringing more destinations closer to all travelers in an efficient and affordable way. Mendoza represents a strategic market given its significant tourism, economic, and cultural potential,” said José Cabrera, Vice President of Communications at Arajet.

Growth Outlook

The launch of this route underscores Arajet’s broader strategy to position Punta Cana International Airport as a major passenger transit and distribution hub in the Americas. By integrating key secondary hubs like Mendoza into its operational network, the airline is successfully diversifying its market footprint while driving fare competition and operational efficiency across the Southern Cone aviation market.
