LATAM Cargo Colombia has inaugurated a new scheduled freighter route connecting Miami with Simón Bolívar International Airport, serving Caracas. This strategic move aims to optimize the flow of goods between the United States and Venezuela, reinforcing connectivity across the hemisphere.
Operational Details and Strategic Logistics
The new service by LATAM Cargo Colombia commenced operations this Sunday, establishing a fixed schedule of two weekly frequencies, set for Sundays and Thursdays. The route, structured as Miami–Caracas–Bogotá, allows for the efficient integration of North American markets with key consumption centers in northern South America.
The implementation of this scheduled service responds to the demand for stable logistics solutions within the Venezuelan market. According to Andrés Varela, Commercial Director for North America at LATAM Cargo Group, the robustness of the current network enabled an agile deployment of this operation.
“The opening of this route reflects exactly the type of organization we aspire to be: agile, present, and solution-oriented,” Varela stated.
Capacity and Cargo Specialization
The operation is not limited solely to conventional freight; it is designed to serve diverse industrial sectors with high-quality standards. The aircraft capacity on this route is configured to handle:
- General Cargo: Basic supplies and consumer goods.
- Courier: Urgent shipments and international parcels.
- Oversize Cargo: Industrial equipment requiring specialized handling.
- Pharmaceuticals: Transportation of medicines and medical supplies with specific climate and handling requirements.
Miami as a Strategic Hub for Latin America
The addition of Caracas to the destination network consolidates Miami International Airport as the company’s primary strategic hub for the region. This base of operations provides the necessary flexibility to structure services with fixed itineraries and maintain a dedicated commercial team for each market.
This milestone represents a significant expansion of the group’s coverage in Latin America, demonstrating a technical and commercial capacity to adapt to the shifting demands of international trade and the specific needs of each territory.
