Copa Airlines resumed commercial operations between Panama City and Barquisimeto this Monday, reintegrating the capital of Lara State into its regional network. This reactivation serves as a strategic move to consolidate the airline’s presence in the Venezuelan market, allowing passengers from the country’s mid-western region to connect with the rest of the continent.
Operational Details
The airline has initially scheduled three weekly frequencies to serve this route, operating on Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays.
To service this route, Copa Airlines will utilize Boeing 737-700 aircraft. This narrow-body equipment offers an optimal balance between capacity and operational efficiency for medium-haul regional sectors.

Flight Schedules
The established schedules for the connection between Tocumen International Airport and Barquisimeto are as follows:
- Panama – Barquisimeto: Departure at 09:25 AM, arriving at 12:28 PM.
- Barquisimeto – Panama: Departure at 01:38 PM, arriving at 02:38 PM.
Consolidating the National Network
With the addition of Barquisimeto, the Panamanian flag carrier bolsters its route network within Venezuelan territory. Currently, the airline maintains scheduled flights to:
- Caracas
- Maracaibo
- Valencia
- Barcelona (Operations scheduled to commence June 2nd)
This expansion allows Venezuela’s various economic hubs to have direct access to the “Hub of the Americas” in Panama, streamlining air transport logistics by removing the need to centralize all operations through the capital.
Through Copa’s connecting hub at Tocumen, travelers departing from Barquisimeto can access a network spanning more than 85 destinations in 32 countries across the Americas, optimizing travel times and fostering commercial and tourism exchange.
