SWISS strengthens its intercontinental network: Bengaluru becomes airline’s third destination in India
Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS) is set to strengthen its presence in the Asian market during the 2026/27 winter season, incorporating Bengaluru, India, as its third destination in the country, joining existing operations in Delhi and Mumbai.
Connecting India’s “Silicon Valley” with Zurich
The new route to Bengaluru, India’s fourth-largest city and a global epicenter for technology and innovation, will operate with a frequency of five weekly flights. Through this expansion, the Swiss carrier aims to meet the growing demand from the corporate sector for direct links to this technology hub, while also facilitating access for leisure travelers looking to explore the southern part of the country.
SWISS CEO Jens Fehlinger highlighted that this addition represents an attractive and multifaceted long-haul destination for the airline’s customers.
Operational details of the new route
The flights will operate according to the following schedules:
- Flight LX 140: Departs from Zurich daily, except Mondays and Wednesdays, at 13:20, arriving in Bengaluru at 02:55 the following day.
- Flight LX 141: Departs from Bengaluru daily, except Tuesdays and Thursdays, at 04:50, arriving in Zurich at 10:50 on the same day.
Fleet update and ‘SWISS Senses’ experience
In parallel with its route expansion, the airline continues to integrate its modern Airbus A350 fleet, with a total of five units expected by the end of this year. These aircraft will allow the new ‘SWISS Senses’ travel experience to be extended to more destinations.
Following its implementation on routes to Boston and Seoul, passengers flying between Zurich and Johannesburg will be able to enjoy this product during the winter schedule, while services to Shanghai will feature these aircraft starting in September.
Strategic adjustments in the European network
As part of a plan to strengthen operational stability and fleet planning, SWISS will make adjustments to its services from Geneva. Due to the limited global availability of components for its Airbus A220 fleet, the airline has decided to temporarily cease operations from Geneva to Berlin, Hamburg, and Pristina.
For the winter timetable period, which runs from October 25, 2026, to March 27, 2027, the company will offer a total of 88 combined destinations from its hubs in Zurich and Geneva.
