Air Europa Solidifies Central American Network with New Direct Madrid–San Salvador Route

Air Europa will launch a new direct route connecting Madrid-Barajas Airport with San Salvador, El Salvador, on December 17. This move strengthens the Spanish carrier’s footprint in Central America, a strategic region where it already operates direct flights to Honduras and Panama.

Operational Details and Flight Schedules

The new route will operate three times a week utilizing Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft. The scheduled timetable is structured as follows:

  • From Madrid: Flights are scheduled to depart on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays at 23:55.
  • From San Salvador: The return leg will operate on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, with a scheduled departure time of 12:10.

Air Europa highlighted the excellent market positioning the Central American country has achieved in recent years, consolidating its status as one of the most attractive destinations on the continent.

Optimizing the Passenger Experience: “Air Europa ON” Plan

This route launch coincides with the implementation of the airline’s latest strategic initiative, dubbed the Air Europa ON plan. This program is designed to drive new enhancements aimed at elevating the passenger experience across all touchpoints, both inflight and on the ground.

For passengers traveling in Business Class, the El Salvador route will introduce significant, exclusive upgrades:

  • A complete overhaul of inflight amenity kits.
  • The introduction of a refreshed beverage menu.
  • Access to dedicated premium airport buses (apron passenger transport) at Madrid-Barajas Airport.

Global Network Expansion Strategy

The service launch to El Salvador is part of an ambitious network expansion plan developed by Air Europa. In addition to this new gateway to Central America, the airline is introducing routes this year to destinations including Oviedo, Seville, Geneva, and Johannesburg. Furthermore, the carrier will expand its seasonal summer operations by adding capacity to two additional destinations: Bologna and Tangier.
