Iberia Launches New Seasonal Route Between Madrid and Bucharest

Iberia commenced operations this Wednesday between Madrid-Barajas and Bucharest Henri Coandă International Airport. This new seasonal connection not only strengthens the Spanish carrier’s presence in Eastern Europe but also serves as a strategic bridge to channel passenger traffic from the Romanian capital to its network of destinations in North and Latin America via its Madrid hub.

Operational Details and Schedules

The route will operate from today, June 3, until September 30, offering a total capacity exceeding 12,700 seats throughout the summer season. The airline will connect both capital cities with a twice-weekly frequency.

The flight schedule for the operation is structured as follows:

Bucharest, along with Tivat in Montenegro, joins Iberia’s seasonal route portfolio for this period. Both additions are an integral part of the airline’s so-called “Flight Plan 2030,” the strategic roadmap through which the company aims to secure long-term growth and consolidate Madrid’s airport as the primary hub connecting the European market with the Americas.

A Market with High Tourism and Economic Potential

According to María Jesús López Solás, Iberia’s Chief Commercial, Network and Alliances Officer, the Romanian capital represents an emerging destination with extraordinary potential for both the leisure and corporate travel sectors.

With the launch of this route, the airline aims to respond directly to the growing demand from Spanish travelers interested in Romania’s cultural and natural attractions, while simultaneously boosting Madrid’s infrastructure as the premier aviation hub linking Eastern Europe and the Americas.
