ITA Airways inaugurated its new seasonal flights for the 2026 summer schedule on Monday, connecting its primary hub at Rome-Fiumicino Airport with three of the Mediterranean’s most highly demanded vacation destinations: Malaga, Valencia, and Marseille.
Daily Connectivity Across the Mediterranean
The new services commenced operations today, June 1, and will run through September 30, 2026. All three routes will operate on daily frequencies. This schedule provides passengers with direct access to these key leisure destinations while ensuring efficient connectivity to the carrier’s domestic and international network via its Rome hub.
The launch of these flights was celebrated simultaneously with ribbon-cutting ceremonies at Malaga, Valencia, and Marseille airports. The events were attended by airport authorities, institutional representatives, and the airline’s commercial teams.
Emiliana Limosani, Chief Commercial, Network & Incentive Management Officer of ITA Airways, highlighted the significance of the launches:
“These new routes strengthen ITA Airways’ summer 2026 network to some of the season’s most highly requested leisure destinations. They expand travel opportunities for our passengers and further boost the strategic role of our hub at Rome-Fiumicino.”
Boosting the Summer and International Network
In addition to these three cities, the Italian flag carrier has structured a robust connectivity strategy for both the Mediterranean and long-haul markets during the current summer season:
Short and Medium-Haul Routes
- New Seasonal Destinations: Added connections to Mykonos, Alicante, and Trapani.
- Frequency Increases: Additional flights to Brindisi, Lampedusa, Pantelleria, Palma de Mallorca, and Nice.
- North African Market: Consolidation and reinforcement of links with Tunis.
- Italian Domestic Market: Launch of seasonal routes between Olbia and Turin, and between Olbia and Genoa, aimed at improving domestic mobility within Italy.
Intercontinental and Long-Haul Expansion
- London Heathrow: Introduction of a double-daily frequency from Rome-Fiumicino.
- United States: Launch of a new direct service between Rome and George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston, marking the first non-stop connection between both hubs. This route will operate five times a week between June and September.
- Asia: Focus on cultural and high-demand leisure destinations, with an increase to five weekly frequencies on the Rome-Bangkok route during August, alongside daily operations on the Rome-New Delhi link.
The new services and the remainder of the summer schedule are now open for booking through the airline’s sales distribution channels.
