Riyadh Air, Saudi Arabia’s new national carrier, has officially commenced commercial domestic operations by connecting Riyadh with Jeddah. This strategic move aims to absorb the high demand on one of the world’s busiest air corridors.
The inaugural flight took off this Sunday from King Khalid International Airport at 9:00 AM, touching down at Jeddah’s King Abdulaziz International Airport at 10:50 AM.
Responding to a High-Density Global Corridor
Riyadh Air’s foray into this market comes in response to unprecedented passenger demand. According to data from aviation analytics firm Official Aviation Guide (OAG), the Riyadh-Jeddah route ranked as the world’s fifth busiest domestic corridor in 2025, recording a capacity of 9.8 million seats.
With the introduction of its premium service, the airline seeks to inject critical capacity to boost the country’s tourism, corporate, economic, and religious sectors, aligning with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.

Tony Douglas, CEO of Riyadh Air, noted: “The introduction of this service has been meticulously selected to serve a key cultural and business travel market, supporting our ambition to become a global airline. We look forward to redefining the future of air travel under the concept of our signature hospitality, Saudi Hawafa.”
Gradual Frequency Expansion and Global Connectivity
The route between both metropolises not only optimizes commercial ties and pilgrim access to the holy centers of Mecca and Medina, but also positions Riyadh as a pivotal hub. This will allow travelers coming from Jeddah to make seamless connections to premier international destinations such as Dubai, Cairo, Madrid, and Manchester.
Flight frequencies will be scaled up gradually according to the following schedule:
- June 14: Official launch with two daily flights.
- June 18: Increase to three daily flights.
- July 2: Route consolidation with four daily flights.
Sales Channels and Loyalty Program
Ticket sales are already live through the Riyadh Air mobile app, its official website, and preferred travel platforms or distribution channels.
Parallel to the launch, the airline has opened registration for passengers to become “Founding Members” of its new loyalty program, dubbed Sfeer. Users who sign up under this tier will receive immediate benefits, including access to guaranteed fares, complimentary onboard Wi-Fi, and reward point accumulation starting from their very first flight itinerary.
