Southwest Airlines and Singapore Airlines (SIA) have finalized an interline agreement that will allow global travelers to book itineraries on a single ticket. This agreement will seamlessly connect the extensive destination networks of both airlines to and from the United States.
The official announcement of the partnership was made by Southwest executives during the International Air Transport Association (IATA) Annual General Meeting held in Brazil.
Global Connectivity Through Three Key Gateways
The partnership will optimize international passenger traffic by leveraging shared touchpoints within U.S. territory. The scope of the joint operation is outlined below:
- SIA Group Footprint: The group, which includes Singapore Airlines and low-cost carrier Scoot, operates services to more than 130 destinations across 35 countries and territories.
- Shared Gateways: The airlines will connect their respective networks via SIA’s global hub at Singapore Changi Airport and three shared U.S. gateways where Southwest operates:
- Los Angeles
- Seattle/Tacoma
- San Francisco
- Domestic Network Access: Through these three gateway airports, international travelers will be able to connect directly to nearly 120 destinations across Southwest’s domestic network.

Ticket distribution channels are already live. Bookings can be made directly through SIA, travel agencies, and specialized travel websites.
International Expansion and Passenger Experience Enhancements
With the addition of Singapore Airlines, Southwest increases its global portfolio to eight partner carriers. These active alliances with overseas airlines facilitate network connectivity between the U.S. and territories in Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.
Andrew Watterson, Chief Operating Officer of Southwest Airlines, highlighted that these partner carriers open up Southwest’s network to a global audience drawn to the evolution of its onboard product. According to the executive, combined itineraries between Southwest and SIA not only expand geographic reach but also maintain consistency in the customer experience.
The U.S. carrier has implemented strategic upgrades to its inflight service based on passenger feedback:
- Assigned seating, rolled out earlier this year.
- Extra legroom seating options.
- An enhanced boarding process.
Southwest Network Growth in 2026
This interline agreement complements the North American carrier’s expansion strategy, which has seen the launch of operations at five new airports:
- St. Thomas (U.S. Virgin Islands)
- Sint Maarten
- Santa Rosa/Sonoma County (California)
- Knoxville (Tennessee)
- Anchorage
These additions consolidate Southwest’s infrastructure, strengthening the network of destinations now available to international passengers originating from the SIA network.
