Arajet has become the first airline in the Dominican Republic to carry more than one million passengers during the first six months of a single year. This performance cements the carrier’s position as the leading domestic operator and bolsters the country’s strategic standing as a regional connection hub in the Americas.
Historic Growth and Domestic Market Dominance
According to official statistics released by the Civil Aviation Board (Junta de Aviación Civil – JAC), Arajet carried 922,593 point-to-point passengers to and from the Dominican Republic between January and June 2026.
Added to this traffic flow are more than 100,000 connecting passengers handled through its operational hubs in Santo Domingo and Punta Cana, pushing the total figure past one million travelers transported during the first half of the year.
This performance places the airline high up in key Dominican aviation metrics:
- Third-Largest Overall Carrier: Arajet accounted for 8.4% of total passenger traffic entering and departing the Dominican Republic in the first half of 2026.
- Domestic Aviation Leadership: The airline carried 92% of all passengers flown by Dominican carriers during the same period.

Hub Model Consolidation and Network Expansion
Since launching operations in September 2022, Arajet has maintained steady growth in passenger capacity, destination count, and overall market share.
Throughout 2026, the low-cost carrier has focused its strategy on boosting frequencies in key markets and launching new international routes. This expansion has driven significant growth in the transit passenger segment, consolidating its Santo Domingo and Punta Cana terminals as major gateways and connecting hubs in the region.
“Surpassing the one-million-passenger mark represents a historic milestone for our company and for Dominican aviation. This achievement was made possible thanks to the trust of our passengers, the dedication of our crew and team, and the support of authorities who have backed the development of the nation’s air connectivity. We will continue working to solidify the Dominican Republic as the Americas’ new air hub, providing more people with the opportunity to fly safely, efficiently, and affordably,” stated Víctor Pacheco Méndez, Founder and CEO of Arajet.
The results achieved in the first half of 2026 reaffirm Arajet’s commitment to democratizing air travel through competitive fares, directly contributing to tourism, trade, investment, and the overall competitiveness of the Dominican Republic’s aviation sector across Latin America and the Caribbean.
