Copa Airlines has become the first airline in Latin America to offer high-speed inflight Wi-Fi connectivity across its fleet using Starlink technology. This technological milestone, which made its inaugural flight on July 4, 2026, marks the beginning of a digital transformation that will progressively expand across the carrier’s entire fleet.
A Milestone in Regional Aerial Connectivity
The deployment of this satellite internet service will be carried out gradually. Following the successful flight of the first aircraft equipped with this technology—a Boeing 737 MAX 9, registration HP-9901CMP—Copa Airlines plans to complete the implementation process across its entire fleet during the first quarter of 2027.
With this rollout, the Panamanian flag carrier not only strengthens its connectivity leadership on the ground through the Hub of the Americas in Panama, but also extends its value proposition into the skies across the continent.
Next-Generation Inflight Digital Experience
The integration of the Starlink network will allow passengers to enjoy a continuous, low-latency connectivity experience throughout their flight. Unlike legacy systems, users will have access to high-bandwidth services, including:
- Real-time streaming of sports, movies, and series.
- Cloud-based productivity applications for corporate workflows.
- Live web browsing and online gaming support.
- Uninterrupted, continuous instant messaging.

Access Structure: Premium Benefits and Affordable Rates
The airline has structured an access framework that rewards the loyalty of its frequent flyers and premium cabin passengers, while also offering connection options to the rest of the travelers.
Guaranteed Complimentary Access
The high-speed Wi-Fi service will be available at no additional cost for:
- Passengers traveling in Business Class.
- ConnectMiles loyalty program PreferMember Gold, Platinum, and Presidential members.
- Customers with active Starlink Residential and Starlink Roam plans.
Options for Other Passengers
All other travelers aboard equipped aircraft will be able to purchase the service directly through the Starlink onboarding portal. The company has indicated that affordable rates will be offered to ensure a larger number of users can remain connected during their flights.
“This initiative addresses our goal of consistently meeting our passengers’ needs and continuously innovating to elevate their travel experience. The most on-time airline in Latin America is now the only one with Starlink high-speed internet on its aircraft,” said Diana Mizrachi-Kopel, Senior Director of Customer Experience at Copa Airlines.
Copa Airlines’ strategy redefines inflight service standards in the Latin American aviation market. The coming months will be critical for maintenance facilities as they ramp up satellite antenna installations, aiming to consolidate a 100% connected fleet by the early months of 2027.
