Delta Air Lines has inaugurated the first phase of its second Delta One Lounge at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), a 4,000-square-foot space designed to offer a highly personalized dining and relaxation experience.
Exclusivity and Local Identity Design in Terminal 2
The new premium lounge, located on the Mezzanine level of Terminal 2 (T2), initially accommodates up to 75 guests. The complete expansion of the space will conclude with Phase 2, scheduled for 2028. Additionally, Delta plans to open a new 11,000-square-foot Delta Sky Club in T2 by 2027. With these additions, the carrier’s global network will reach 60 lounges worldwide, consolidating the most extensive lounge portfolio among US airlines.
“This investment remains consistent with our strategy to elevate the premium experience both at LAX and across our global network,” said Megan Humphreys, Vice President of Delta Sky Club and Lounge Experience. “With demand for premium travel continuing to rise and our global footprint expanding, we are carefully looking at every square foot, designing every detail with intention.”
Unlike the main lounge located in Terminal 3 (T3), this space focuses rigorously on the consistency of its à la carte culinary offerings. The interior design highlights the following elements:
- Light and views: Large windows framing airfield operations and filling the space with natural light.
- LA art: A curated collection of works by seven Los Angeles-based creators, connecting the space with local culture.
- Wellness amenities: Availability of three showers, four standalone cabana-style restrooms, and a premium bar.
- Productivity: Workstations equipped with portable monitors and wireless charging systems throughout the venue.
High-End, Farm-to-Table Dining
The culinary program for the T2 and T3 lounges has been structured to offer personalized table service at every seat, complemented by a rotating menu. Under the direction of Culinary Director Michael Rouleau, the menu features fresh ingredients grown in California year-round.
The Delta One Lounge culinary offerings include:
- Signature dishes: Lamb bolognese with house-made lumache pasta, hamachi crudo featuring fish flown in daily from Japan, and a traditional French onion soup.
- Breakfast options: From acai bowls and huevos rancheros to fresh pastries paired with artisanal jams crafted in copper pots by East Hollywood’s renowned restaurant Sqirl.
- Cocktails and beverages: A premium bar featuring a cocktail program that chronicles the airline’s routes, highlighted by the “Island Sapphire,” inspired by the flight from LAX to Honolulu International Airport. Additionally, fresh juices such as the Vitality Shot (coconut, turmeric, and black pepper), pea protein and cacao smoothies, and coffee from Santa Cruz’s Verve Coffee Roasters are served.
Efficient Logistics: “Curb-to-Cloud” Connectivity
The new infrastructure is part of an integrated premium ground experience. Eligible customers enjoy a seamless journey from the curb to the aircraft, which includes:
- Curbside drop-off at the T3 arrivals area.
- Access to private check-in counters and exclusive Delta One security checkpoints.
- Direct transfer via Delta-operated golf carts to the T2 lounge.
LAX as a Strategic Global Hub
As the leading carrier at the Los Angeles terminal, Delta currently operates 151 peak-day departures to 50 domestic and international destinations. The West Coast network will continue to expand with the introduction of new nonstop frequencies to Hong Kong and Chicago O’Hare, as well as upcoming launches scheduled for Vancouver (beginning November 21) and Newark (expected in April 2027).
By 2028, Delta passengers at LAX will have access to four dedicated lounges: two Delta One Lounges and two Delta Sky Clubs strategically distributed between terminals T2 and T3. This robust premium infrastructure optimally positions the airline to accommodate the surge in corporate and leisure traffic projected for the region’s upcoming international events.
