American Airlines has announced the launch of a new daily, nonstop service between Ontario International Airport and Chicago O’Hare beginning in December 2026. This new strategic connection aims to absorb the growing demand for travel in the Greater Los Angeles region, complementing the existing airline offerings in this market.
Operational Details and Schedules
The new route will formally begin operations on December 17, 2026, offering an efficient alternative for passengers traveling between Southern California and the US Midwest. The flight schedules are structured to maximize connectivity, allowing for a morning departure from California and an evening return.
The confirmed flight schedules are as follows:
| Route | Departure | Arrival |
|---|---|---|
| Ontario to Chicago | 6:00 a.m. | 12:15 p.m. |
| Chicago to Ontario | 6:15 p.m. | 8:48 p.m. |
Tickets for these flights will be available for booking starting Monday, July 6, through the airline’s official website. With this addition, American will complement the service currently operated by United Airlines in the same market.
Fleet and Cabin Configuration
To operate this daily route, the carrier will deploy its Boeing 737 aircraft, which feature a total capacity of 172 seats arranged in a three-class configuration:
- First Class: 16 seats

This new daily link reaffirms the airline’s long-term commitment to the Southern California market.
