Venezuela: Maiquetía Airport to Resume Air Cargo Operations on August 5

The Maiquetía International Airport Institute (IAIM) has announced that air cargo operations—encompassing both inbound and outbound flights to and from Venezuela’s primary gateway—will resume on Tuesday, August 5, 2026.

In an official statement, the airport authority noted that the restart is part of a progressive restoration of airport services aimed at ensuring compliance with operational safety, civil aviation security (AVSEC), and efficiency standards established by national and international aeronautical regulations.

The IAIM further highlighted that it will continue to strengthen air connectivity while delivering safe, efficient, and high-quality airport services for both operators and users.

The document formally provides notice of the restart of commercial activities related to air cargo operations. Under the directive, companies must execute the necessary measures to reactivate their commercial concessions within their designated areas to resume cargo handling services at the country’s main hub.

The circular, signed by IAIM Director General Aníbal Rafael Bellorín Pereira, specifies that the administration has been conducting the necessary administrative and commercial groundwork to facilitate the reopening of freight operations.

With this announcement, Simón Bolívar International Airport in Maiquetía takes a key step forward in restoring its airport operations, framed within the progressive recovery plan spearheaded by Venezuelan authorities to optimize air transport infrastructure and logistics.
