Wingo Launches Only Direct Route Between Barranquilla and Aruba
Wingo commenced operations this Thursday on its new direct route connecting Barranquilla with Aruba, solidifying its position as the only airline to offer non-stop service on this sector. This strategic link reduces travel time to just one hour, boosting connectivity between the Colombian Caribbean and the Dutch Caribbean island.
Frequencies, Fares, and Operational Capacity
The new scheduled operation is being deployed on Boeing 737-800 aircraft, which feature a 186-passenger capacity. Thanks to this deployment, the low-cost carrier (LCC) will inject more than 18,000 seats into the market.
The flight schedules are structured as follows:
- Weekly Frequencies: Twice-weekly service, scheduled on Thursdays and Sundays.
- Timetable Scheme: Morning operations, planned to optimize passengers’ time at their destination right from day one.
- Fare Structure: One-way tickets are available starting at USD 119, a price that already includes all applicable taxes.

Consolidating Wingo’s Presence in Colombia and the Caribbean
With the addition of Aruba, Barranquilla now boasts a total of six destinations connected non-stop via Wingo. The airline already operated routes from the capital of the Atlántico department to Bogotá, Medellín, San Andrés, and Panama. Throughout 2026, the company has added two new destinations to this network: Bucaramanga and, now, Aruba.
Furthermore, Wingo positions itself as the airline with the largest network of Colombian cities connected to Aruba. Currently, its route network to the island territory spans:
- Bogotá
- Medellín
- Cali
- Bucaramanga (launched in 2026)
- Barranquilla (launched in 2026)
Jorge Jiménez, Wingo’s Commercial and Planning Vice President, highlighted that the operation addresses an underlying market demand, driven by the significant community of Barranquilleros residing in Aruba, as well as the deep cultural and commercial ties shared between both regions, such as their respective carnivals.
