Air Canada has officially endorsed the Canadian government’s announcement regarding the expansion of the bilateral air transport agreement with Nigeria. Following this regulatory milestone, the carrier confirmed its formal intention to launch scheduled service to Lagos’s Murtala Muhammed International Airport projected for 2027.

To bring this transcontinental operation to fruition, the airline has initiated regulatory filings with civil aviation authorities to secure the required commercial operating permits.

Mary-Jane Lorette, Air Canada’s Vice President of Revenue Management, Partnerships, and International Affairs, welcomed the updated bilateral regulatory framework and confirmed that the airline is awaiting the requisite operating authorizations to launch direct flights to Lagos during the scheduled upcoming year.
