Alaska Airlines Strengthens Its Seattle Hub with New Transatlantic Flights to Paris and Athens

Alaska Airlines is expanding its transatlantic footprint from Seattle-Tacoma International Airport with the announcement of two new seasonal nonstop routes to Paris, France, and Athens, Greece, starting in May 2027.

With these additions, the carrier’s transoceanic network will reach seven direct intercontinental destinations from Seattle. This commercial move responds directly to high demand from Atmos™ Rewards loyalty program members, aligning with executive leadership’s strategic plan to transform Seattle into the Pacific Northwest’s premier international gateway.

“We fly where our guests want to go, and Athens and Paris have been at the top of their list for years. As we expand our network to more than 12 long-haul international routes from Seattle over the coming years, we’re giving travelers more ways to connect with the world and more opportunities to use Atmos Rewards.”
— Ben Minicucci, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Alaska Airlines.

A Milestone for Pacific Northwest Connectivity

Seattle – Athens Route
Alaska Airlines will achieve an industry milestone by becoming the first airline to operate a nonstop flight between Seattle and the Greek capital. The seasonal service will launch on May 12, 2027, operating three times weekly, making it the longest route by geographical distance in the carrier’s history and the only direct link between the U.S. West Coast and Greece.

Seattle – Paris Route
Service to the French capital—one of the most searched destinations on the airline’s website—will launch on May 25, 2027. The route will feature five weekly frequencies.

Additionally, schedule restructuring across the carrier’s network will enable same-day connections between Daniel K. Inouye International Airport in Honolulu, Hawaii—the company’s second-largest hub—and Paris via the Seattle hub.

Market Positioning and oneworld Alliance Integration

Alaska Airlines continues to solidify its position as the largest international carrier at Seattle-Tacoma, logging over 360 peak-day departures and serving 110 direct destinations. The addition of Paris and Athens complements the carrier’s existing long-haul routes to Iceland, London, Rome, Seoul, and Tokyo.

The corporate strategic roadmap projects the addition of at least five more intercontinental destinations by 2030, underpinned by the gradual delivery of new Boeing 787-9 aircraft. Through its membership in the global oneworld alliance and airline partner agreements, the carrier provides passengers with seamless beyond-hub connections to Europe, the Middle East, and Asia.

The announcement of these transatlantic flights marks the start of an investment phase focused on the premium guest experience. As part of this roadmap, Alaska Airlines plans to open a new international lounge at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, alongside continuous enhancements to its onboard service options.
