Copa Airlines Requests Authorization to Operate Flights to Montería, Colombia

Panamanian carrier Copa Airlines has submitted a formal application to Colombia’s Special Administrative Unit of Civil Aeronautics (Aerocivil) seeking authorization to launch a new direct international route connecting Panama City with the city of Montería.

This initiative aligns with the airline’s strategy to offer new flight options and boost passenger traffic to and from Colombia’s northwestern region.

According to the filing, the proposed operations are structured under third and fourth freedom traffic rights.

Should Aerocivil grant approval, Montería will become the airline’s 11th destination in Colombia.

The company’s domestic route network currently serves ten major cities:

  • Bogotá
  • Medellín
  • Cali
  • Barranquilla
  • Cartagena
  • Pereira
  • Bucaramanga
  • Cúcuta
  • Santa Marta
  • San Andrés

The establishment of this new air link remains subject to review and final regulatory approval by Colombian authorities.
