Wingo Strengthens Caribbean Connectivity with New Direct Route Between Bogotá and Puerto Plata
Starting November 6, low-cost carrier Wingo will add a new international route to its destination network, connecting Bogotá with Gregorio Luperón International Airport in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic.
The operation will run on a two-weekly frequency structure, scheduled for Mondays and Fridays. This initial operational phase will extend through January 25, 2027, during which the airline will place a total of 8,928 seats on the market. Throughout this year-end and holiday cycle, the carrier will exclusively operate non-stop flights between Colombia and Puerto Plata province.

Flight Schedules and Fare Structure
- Bogotá – Puerto Plata: Departs Mondays at 11:00 a.m. and Fridays at 6:00 a.m.
- Puerto Plata – Bogotá: Departs Mondays at 4:28 p.m. and Fridays at 11:23 a.m.
Tickets for this new commercial connection are already available on the airline’s digital sales channels (wingo.com), starting at a base fare of USD 300 round-trip, including all applicable taxes and airport fees.
Regional Coverage and Connectivity with the Cibao Region
Located in northern Dominican Republic, Puerto Plata hosts cultural and tourist landmarks such as its historic center, the San Felipe Fortress, Playa Dorada, the Isabel de Torres cable car, and several water sports spots.
Additionally, Gregorio Luperón International Airport will serve as an access logistics hub to other northern regions of the island, notably given its proximity to Santiago de los Caballeros. Situated less than two hours away by road from Puerto Plata, Santiago de los Caballeros is the second-largest city in the Dominican Republic and the commercial, cultural, and industrial epicenter of the Cibao region, internationally recognized for its tobacco industry.
Consolidating the Dominican Republic Operational Footprint
The addition of Puerto Plata reinforces the strategic importance of the Dominican Republic within Wingo’s international route map. The new operation joins the carrier’s established network from Colombia:
- Bogotá – Punta Cana
- Medellín – Punta Cana
- Medellín – Santo Domingo
With this step, the airline strengthens its competitive market position in air transport between both nations, offering expanded direct mobility options to the Caribbean country’s primary tourism and economic hubs.
