Emirates has revealed full details of its new lounge at Manchester Airport’s Terminal 2, a facility that represents an investment of £10 million.
This strategic opening strengthens the UAE-based carrier’s footprint in the North of England, combining state-of-the-art technology, regionally and internationally inspired gastronomy, and wellness amenities as part of the £1.5 billion transformation of Terminal 2.
A Strategic Investment in a Key Gateway
The new facility marks the first time Emirates has rolled out its latest flagship lounge concept on British soil.
Mohammad Mattar, Divisional Senior Vice President of Airport Services at Emirates, highlighted the importance of this milestone:
“Manchester is a major gateway in our global network, and the scale of our investment here reflects our long-term commitment to the region. Our new flagship lounge concept raises the bar for premium airport lounges, bringing together the hospitality, innovation, and attention to detail that define the Emirates experience at every stage of the journey.”
Currently, Emirates operates three daily flights between Manchester and Dubai.
Premium Design, Comfort, and Direct Boarding
The space incorporates over 50 design enhancements, arranged across dedicated areas for relaxation, work, socialising, and dining:
- Furnishings and Connectivity: Italian eco-leather seating fitted with wireless charging pads and universal power outlet access at every seat.
- Ambiance and Style: Herringbone flooring, signature Rolex clocks displaying global time zones, and curated art displays celebrating international artists and Emirati culture—all tied together by Emirates’ bespoke signature scent (bergamot, citrus, jasmine, and soft woods).
- Wellness and Rest: Upgraded shower suites featuring VOYA amenities, a Quiet Zone with dimmed ambient lighting and sleeping pods/amenities, private spaces, and prayer rooms.
- Direct Aircraft Boarding: Emirates is the only carrier at Manchester Airport offering direct jetbridge boarding straight from the lounge to the aircraft, delivering a seamless, uninterrupted transit experience.
Culinary Offering: Open Kitchen Theatre and Local Manchester Flavours
The food and beverage program centers around an open kitchen featuring live cooking, where dishes are prepared fresh à la minute.
‘Made in Manchester’ Culinary Concept
The lounge spotlights local gastronomy and regional purveyors with curated specialties, including:
- Marinated Fleetwood prawns
- Pan-baked Fleetwood sea bream
- Traditional Wigan meat and potato pie
- Shetland kippers served with crumpets and a poached egg
- Lancashire smoked trout
- A curated selection of Cheshire cheeses
This regional offering is complemented by an extensive international menu tailored to a diverse range of dietary preferences.
Artisan Coffee and Signature Mixology
- Barista Bar: Specialty coffee finished with cocoa stencils depicting iconic motifs, including the Manchester worker bee and the Emirates emblem.
- Mixology: A dedicated mixologist crafts bespoke cocktails and mocktails, headlined by the signature “Made in Manchester” drink, made with Vimto Summer, grenadine, lemonade, and fresh strawberry.
- Premium Beverages: A curated selection of wines, beers, premium spirits, and Moët & Chandon champagne.
All food and beverage offerings are fully complimentary with lounge access.
Access Policies and Operating Hours
The new lounge opens its doors up to four hours prior to the departure of each flight.
Complimentary access is available to:
- Passengers travelling in First Class and Business Class.
- Emirates Skywards Platinum and Gold tier members, including those travelling in Premium Economy and Economy.
Additionally, Emirates passengers who do not meet these eligibility criteria can purchase lounge access directly upon arrival.
