Turkish Airlines has finalized a strategic agreement with American airframer Boeing for the acquisition of up to 150 737 MAX family aircraft. This commitment marks the Turkish flag carrier’s largest-ever single-aisle order with the manufacturer, reinforcing its fleet expansion strategy and global network growth plans.
Key Details of the Carrier’s Largest Narrowbody Order
The agreement, formalized in the presence of His Excellency Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, President of the Republic of Türkiye, concludes discussions that began in 2025.
The contractual structure of the order comprises:
- 100 firm orders for the Boeing 737-8 variant.
- 50 purchase options for additional 737 MAX family aircraft.
- Conversion rights for the 737-10—the highest-capacity variant in the MAX family—providing the carrier with critical operational flexibility to meet surging passenger demand across key routes.
“This agreement marks another significant step in the ongoing expansion of our fleet. The incoming Boeing 737 MAX aircraft will bring greater efficiency and operational flexibility to our operations, supporting the extensive route network we serve from our global hub in Istanbul,” stated Prof. Murat Şeker, Chairman of the Board of Directors and the Executive Committee of Turkish Airlines. He further emphasized the importance of strengthening the long-standing collaboration with the manufacturer while advancing Türkiye’s broader aerospace ecosystem.

Boeing Aircraft Across the Turkish Airlines Group Fleet
Currently, Turkish Airlines (including its low-cost subsidiary AJet) operates an active fleet of more than 200 Boeing aircraft, comprising:
- Boeing 737 MAX
- Boeing 737 Next-Generation (737NG)
- Boeing 787 Dreamliner
- Boeing 777
- Boeing 777 Freighter (777F)
Sustained Fleet Growth and Industrial Cooperation
This transaction follows Turkish Airlines’ 2025 commitment for up to 75 Boeing 787 Dreamliners, forming part of a comprehensive, long-term capital expenditure plan aimed at global route expansion and fleet modernization.
Additionally, the agreement incorporates industrial participation and offset terms, under which Boeing reaffirms its ongoing commitment to strengthen and collaborate with the Turkish aerospace and defense manufacturing sector.
