Volotea Strengthens Network in Italy: Inaugurates New Routes to Florence from Asturias, Sevilla, San Sebastián, and Valencia
Volotea has launched a significant connectivity deployment between Spain and Italy by directly linking Florence’s Amerigo Vespucci Airport with the terminals of Asturias, Sevilla, San Sebastián, and Valencia.
These additions represent, for the most part, the first scheduled commercial air links in history between these destinations, substantially expanding travel options for passengers from each of these regions.
Asturias: First Historic Link and Base Consolidation
In northern Spain, the carrier has inaugurated its new connection between Asturias Airport and Florence, establishing the first direct scheduled air service ever recorded between the two points.
- Frequencies: The route will operate with two weekly frequencies.
- Capacity and Network: With this opening, Volotea expands its total number of offered routes from Asturias to 24, raising its seating capacity in the Principality to a figure exceeding 1.2 million seats.
San Sebastián: International Milestone and Seating Deployment
The launch of operations between San Sebastián and Florence constitutes another historic milestone: it is the first scheduled connection between the two cities and, in turn, the first international route operated by the carrier from the capital of Gipuzkoa.

Operational Scheme in San Sebastián
- Frequency and Flight Days: It will operate two weekly frequencies throughout the season. Initially, flights will take place on Mondays and Thursdays, transitioning to Thursdays and Sundays starting in November.
- 2026 Offering: For 2026, the airline is offering more than 71,000 seats from the Basque city while simultaneously restoring the domestic connection between San Sebastián and Sevilla.
Sevilla: Third Link with Italy
In the south, the airline began operating the direct route today between Sevilla Airport and Florence’s Amerigo Vespucci Airport, categorized as the first scheduled connection in the history of the city pair and the third Italian destination available from the Andalusian capital.
- Frequencies: Scheduled for up to two weekly frequencies.
- Destination Network: With this addition, Volotea’s network in Sevilla reaches:
- 6 domestic destinations: A Coruña, Asturias, Bilbao, Pamplona, San Sebastián, and Santander.
- 5 international destinations: Bordeaux, Lille, Florence, Olbia, and Verona.
Valencia: Expansion of International Destinations
The carrier complements this growth with the launch of its service between Valencia and Florence, scheduled to become available starting September 22.
- Frequencies: It will feature a schedule of up to two weekly frequencies.
- Network Structure in Valencia: Volotea’s route portfolio from the Valencian capital is configured with:
- 4 domestic destinations: A Coruña (newly incorporated), Asturias, Bilbao, and Santander.
- 5 international destinations: Bordeaux, Lille, Lyon, Florence, and Algiers.
With the entry into service of these direct links to Florence, Volotea strengthens the integration of Spanish regional airports into the European aviation map, adding unprecedented scheduled connectivity milestones and increasing seating capacity across its bases and key airports.
