United Airlines Adds New Services and Expanded Frequencies

As part of the coordinated summer 2027 rollout, United Airlines will also strengthen its services into Canada with the following operations:

Operational Impact of the Transborder Joint Business Agreement

The two carriers have maintained a close partnership since 1996 as founding members of Star Alliance. In 2022, they formalized their Transborder Joint Business Agreement, which has achieved key operational milestones:

Mark Galardo, Executive Vice President, Chief Commercial Officer, and President of Cargo at Air Canada, noted that the nearly three-decade partnership continues to generate tangible results while expanding direct connectivity to global markets via United’s U.S. network. Patrick Quayle, Senior Vice President of Global Network Planning and Alliances at United Airlines, underscored the strategic importance of Canada within the carrier’s international network, pointing to consistent operational growth since 2022.

To build upon these operational synergies, Air Canada and United Airlines have agreed to renew and expand their Transborder Joint Business Agreement. Both carriers have formally submitted an application to Transport Canada for regulatory approval of the amended and restated agreement, with implementation subject to standard government and regulatory authorizations.
