British low-cost carrier easyJet will offer inflight Wi-Fi across its aircraft for the first time following a strategic partnership with Starlink. The rollout of the high-speed service aims to transform the travel experience for more than 100 million annual passengers, enabling them to stream video, play online games, and work with ground-like performance.
A Technological Leap: Airbus Fleet Retrofit Timeline
The deployment program will be executed under the following timeline:
- Rollout Launch: First half of 2027.
- Fleet Scope: Airbus A320, Airbus A320neo, and Airbus A321neo aircraft.
- Project Completion: Fleet-wide retrofit is scheduled to be completed by early 2028.
This schedule represents an aggressive retrofit program designed to achieve cabin commonality across the carrier’s aircraft and ensure uniform service coverage throughout its route network.

Passenger Experience and Enhanced Inflight Capabilities
The low Earth orbit (LEO) technology provided by Starlink will enable travelers to access fast, reliable connectivity on their personal electronic devices. The airline aims to capture both corporate and leisure travelers by expanding its inflight digital offering.
Key capabilities enabled by this inflight connectivity (IFC) solution include:
- Full Browsing and Inflight Entertainment (IFE): High-throughput capability for streaming, online multiplayer gaming, and web browsing without traditional bandwidth constraints.
- Itinerary Management: Real-time flight status tracking via the carrier’s mobile app and passenger portal.
- Destination Services: Real-time access to local weather forecasts, ground transportation options, and travel guides.
- Streamlined Cabin Service: The onboard platform opens the door for passengers to place buy-on-board food and beverage orders directly from their seats.
Strategic Airline Vision
EasyJet’s decision aligns with its core strategy of delivering affordable, seamless travel while driving ancillary value across its operational model.
Kenton Jarvis, Chief Executive Officer of easyJet, stated:
“In an increasingly digital world, staying connected matters more than ever to many of our customers, whether that’s holidaymakers looking to kick back with some onboard entertainment or our business customers needing to stay in touch with what’s happening on the ground.
Innovation is in easyJet’s DNA, and partnering with SpaceX to bring Starlink high-speed internet connectivity onboard for the first time will not only further enhance the experience we deliver to millions of customers, but it means we are offering more of the choices both business and leisure travelers want when deciding who to fly with.
Giving customers the opportunity to connect in the air will mean even greater choice and convenience when flying with easyJet. Ultimately, it is one more way we are making travel easy.”
With this rollout, easyJet positions itself for a technical modernization phase that upgrades its narrowbody fleet to contemporary satellite connectivity standards, reinforcing its competitive posture in the European short- and medium-haul market.
