Qatar Airways to Launch Flights to New Western Sydney International Airport Starting in 2027

Qatar Airways has announced the next phase of its Australian expansion with the launch of scheduled passenger services connecting Hamad International Airport in Doha with the new Western Sydney International Airport (WSI), effective December 15, 2027.

Tickets will go on sale on December 19, 2026, offering a direct option for both business and leisure travelers. With this addition, WSI will become the carrier’s seventh gateway in Australia, complementing its existing operations to Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide, and Canberra.

Hamad Al Khater, CEO of Qatar Airways Group, emphasized the strategic importance of the agreement for bilateral ties:

“Our launch at Western Sydney International Airport represents the next chapter in our longstanding partnership with Australia, one of our key markets. The new route will directly link Western Sydney with Doha and, via DOH, connect passengers to more than 170 destinations across the Middle East, Africa, Europe, and beyond—strengthening existing ties and unlocking new opportunities for trade, tourism, and investment between Australia, Qatar, and the world.”

Al Khater added that the terminal’s 24/7 curfew-free operational capacity will help funnel more international visitors into New South Wales, provide a premium travel experience through a second Sydney gateway, and offer local exporters direct belly-hold cargo access to Gulf markets and neighboring regions.
