Southwest Airlines has opened bookings for its summer 2027 flight schedule, marking the largest summer program in the carrier’s history.

The new operational schedule, effective from June 3, 2027, through August 2, 2027, will achieve a historic high of up to 4,498 daily flights on peak travel days.

Austin: Peak Domestic and International Expansion in Texas

Consolidating nearly 50 years of operations in the Texas state capital, Southwest plans to operate up to 143 departures, featuring increased frequencies on existing routes alongside seven seasonal services—five of which are brand-new additions to its route network:

International Connectivity

  • Liberia (Costa Rica)
  • Nassau (Bahamas)
  • Punta Cana (Dominican Republic)

These services complement its existing international network from Austin to Cancun (Mexico), Los Cabos (Mexico), Puerto Vallarta (Mexico), and San Jose (Costa Rica), solidifying the carrier’s position as the leading airline by international destinations and frequencies in the Austin market.

Nashville and San Diego: Strategic Growth in Key Markets

Expansion in Nashville

For summer 2027, the carrier will offer up to 220 flights from the Tennessee capital, representing its highest summer volume recorded at the station to date.

  • New seasonal routes: Nonstop flights connecting Nashville with Boise (Idaho), Nassau (Bahamas), and Providenciales (Turks and Caicos).
  • Seasonal resumptions: Returning services to Bozeman (Montana) and Portland (Oregon).
  • Sustained growth: Since opening its flight crew base in 2024, the airline has maintained continuous year-over-year growth across every month of the year, adding up to 20 additional departures in summer 2027 compared to summer 2026.

Consolidation in San Diego

In California, Southwest will continue to scale up its operational footprint, reaching up to 150 daily flights during the peak summer period in San Diego:

  • Year-round frequency increases: Up to six daily peak-day operations to Austin and three daily weekday flights to Seattle.
  • New seasonal route: Sunday-only service connecting San Diego and Oklahoma City.
  • Seasonal route resumptions: Returning links to Bozeman (Montana), Columbus (Ohio), Milwaukee, and Pittsburgh.

Network-Wide Increases: Las Vegas, Orlando, and New Airport Lounges

The overall schedule also incorporates significant year-over-year capacity increases across other key network focus cities:

  • Las Vegas: Operating up to 278 flights (a year-over-year increase of 12 operations), highlighted by the June 2027 return of seasonal daily service to Anchorage.
  • Orlando: Reaching up to 173 flights (a year-over-year increase of 17 operations).
  • Bozeman, Montana: Reactivation of seasonal services to Chicago (Midway) and Dallas.

Regarding airport infrastructure and passenger experience, the airline confirmed that construction is progressing on its dedicated airport lounges in Austin and Nashville, which are part of an initial set of four lounges planned by the carrier.
