Qantas inaugurates direct flights between Perth and Rome
Qantas inaugurated this Saturday its new non-stop route between Perth and Rome (Italy), becoming the only flight that directly connects Australia with continental Europe.
The airline will operate the route, which takes more than 16 hours, three times a week on Boeing 787-9 aircraft.

The direct flight to Rome will also serve as a departure point to other European destinations, including Athens, Madrid, Milan and Nice, with Qantas partner airlines.
To celebrate the launch of the new route, Qantas has introduced a series of new Italian-inspired menu items and Negroni cocktails in its lounges and in-flight.
It has also added a unique special collection of iconic Italian films to its inflight entertainment offerings on all international flights with classics such as Scent Of A Woman, Rome, Open City and Life is Beautiful.
Qantas Group Chief Executive Alan Joyce said Australians are once again seizing the opportunity to travel and direct flights are the way of the future.

“We are seeing a growing preference for a non-stop flight to and from Australia to make the travel experience as efficient and easy as possible and we hope it will be a permanent change in the way people want to travel.
“Nearly 20 years later, we are thrilled that our flight path will once again take us to Rome, proving that it truly is the eternal city.”
A recent study commissioned by Qantas confirms that traveler preference for point-to-point flights is higher than ever post-COVID. The attractiveness of the direct route between Australia and London has increased from 45% to 59%.
