LATAM Airlines remains, for the fourth consecutive month, in the leadership of Brazilian commercial aviation in May 2022, with a 33.7% share in the domestic market, according to ANAC (National Civil Aviation Agency) data released on Friday. The leadership was achieved after a recovery in the supply of seats on domestic routes, which reached the same levels as in May 2019, and also included the opening of new destinations, such as the Sinop-Brasilia route, in addition to an increase in already operated.

According to Aline Mafra, Director of Sales and Marketing of LATAM Brazil, the efficient and structured operation of the company allowed the development of routes and destinations with greater public demand. “Achieving new consecutive leadership demonstrates that we are offering what our clients are looking for and need, even more so at a time of resumption of leisure and business tourism,” she adds.
In Brazil, in May 2022, LATAM reached an occupancy rate of 73.2%, transporting more than 2 million passengers on an average of 532 domestic flights per day to 50 destinations in the country (before the Covid-19 pandemic there were 44 destinations).
LATAM forecasts 60% higher passenger flow in July high season
For the high season of July 2022, LATAM has scheduled almost 3,000 more domestic and international flights to ensure the service of approximately 3 million passengers, which corresponds to 60% more compared to the same month of 2021. In total, the company will operate almost 20,000 takeoffs and landings to/from Brazil.

The airports of Brasilia, São Paulo (Guarulhos and Congonhas), Rio de Janeiro (Galeão and Santos Dumont), Fortaleza, Curitiba and Porto Alegre are the ones that will handle the most passengers of the company, being responsible for 66% of this growth.
The main increases in the domestic market occur in flights to the Brazilian Northeast from São Paulo (Guarulhos and Congonhas), Rio de Janeiro (Santos Dumont); Brasilia and Fortaleza. In the international market from Brazil, the company will expand its flights to Santiago, Buenos Aires, Miami and Orlando.
In addition to increasing the frequency of weekly flights on some routes throughout the month of July, LATAM will also resume destinations that were temporarily suspended, such as direct flights between Porto Alegre-Lima and Fortaleza-Miami, and will continue with the planned and maintained premieres for 2022. That is because, in July, the company will open 5 new destinations abroad and in Brazil: Rome, Montes Claros, Cascavel, Caxias do Sul and Juiz de Fora. With this, the company will reach 54 national and 20 international destinations from Brazil.
