Privilege Club members will be able to earn Avios and QPoints on flights operated by Virgin Australia, and Velocity Frequent Flyer members can now earn Velocity Points and Status Credits for flights operated by Qatar Airways. Reward seats are also now available to book on eligible services operated by both airlines. Beginning September 12, eligible members of both loyalty programs will also receive additional tier benefits, including priority check-in, priority boarding and lounge access, regardless of their travel class.

The strategic partnership is set to provide a trade and tourism boost for Australia and Qatar, while opening up a world of new travel opportunities for customers of both airlines.

To mark the start of the partnership, Virgin Australia and Qatar Airways held a launch event at Brisbane Airport on Thursday, with dancers representing various countries accessible through the Qatar Airways and Virgin Australia networks.

“We continue to deliver on our promise to grow our international network and, starting today, our passengers will have direct access to more than 150 destinations around the world on the Qatar Airways network, including further access to the Middle East, Europe and Africa.” Virgin Australia Group Chief Executive Jayne Hrdlicka said.
