A record summer: this is how Spanish airline LEVEL can define its 2022 summer season. This year, the IAG Group’s Barcelona-based long-haul and low-cost carrier has increased the number of people carried by 26% compared to the summer of 2019, a figure that highlights the consolidation of the company’s business model and its commitment to Barcelona’s long-haul connectivity.
This summer season – from the end of March to the end of October for the airline industry – the airline connected non-stop Barcelona with the cities of New York, Buenos Aires, San Francisco, Boston and Los Angeles, being, in the last four, the only operator. This summer, the airline has operated more than 1,200 flights and transported more than 330,000 people, an all-time record for the airline. All this with an operating regularity rate of over 99%.

With the volume of services offered between Barcelona and the United States, LEVEL has become the second largest operator at Barcelona airport in that market. Thus, one out of every four seats between Barcelona and the United States belongs to LEVEL’s operations.
“We have experienced the best summer of the five that make up the history of LEVEL and it is a source of pride for all the people who make up the company. These figures are also the driving force to continue fulfilling day by day the raison d’être of the airline, which is to strengthen the long-haul connectivity of Barcelona. In fact, it is this commitment that today, after two very difficult summers for the sector, we can celebrate these record figures for LEVEL,” said Lucía Adrover, commercial director of LEVEL.
Barcelona’s intercontinental hub strengthened
Connecting traffic, which accounted for 15% of the airline’s total volume, reinforces Barcelona airport’s position as an intercontinental hub. In this line, both LEVEL and Vueling offer their connecting routes to bring the former’s destinations in the Americas closer to the latter’s domestic and European destinations and improve the connectivity of the cities served by both airlines.
Record number of people transported to the U.S.
With 11,000 seats offered weekly and three exclusive routes to the U.S., LEVEL has transported between Barcelona and the North American country more than twice as many people as during the same period in 2019. This is an absolute record since its birth in 2017.
