Avolon to order 40 additional Boeing 737 MAX aircraft
Avolon, the international aircraft leasing company, announced Thursday its commitment to order an additional 40 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft. Deliveries are scheduled between 2027 and 2030, and are valued at more than $4 billion at the current list price.
Avolon delivered the first 737 MAX in 2017, and the 1,000th MAX earlier this year.
This commitment will increase Avolon’s total owned, managed and committed fleet size to 870 aircraft.

“This commitment to Boeing underscores our confidence in the positive momentum of the aviation market and increases our portfolio of young, modern, fuel-efficient aircraft. In the face of strong demand for our new technology backlog and tight delivery schedules, it strengthens and broadens our delivery profile with Boeing. This commitment will also support our airline customers looking to plan beyond the strong post-Covid traffic recovery and prepare for future growth, while reducing their carbon emissions,” commented Andy Cronin, Avolon’s Chief Executive Officer.
The transaction is subject only to the approval of the shareholders of Bohai Leasing Co., which owns 70% of Avolon, which is expected before the end of May.
