Copa Airlines announced the signing of a technical cooperation agreement with the Don Bosco Technical Institute (ITDB), in support of the implementation of the bachelor’s degree focused on the Aeronautical Maintenance Technician Training Program (TMA) starting in March 2024.

“At Copa Airlines, we recognize the importance of education in training future leaders and professionals in the field of aviation. Through this alliance with Instituto Técnico Don Bosco (ITDB), we contribute to the growth and development of Panamanian youth, providing them with meaningful learning opportunities that translate into employment opportunities in Panama’s aviation industry,” said Rafael Samudio, vice president of Technical Operations at Copa Airlines.

For seventh consecutive month, Copa Airlines was the “Most Punctual Airline in Latin America”

This Aeronautical Maintenance Technician (AMT) Training Program will offer students a combination of theoretical classes at the Don Bosco Technical Institute and supervised internships at Copa Airlines’ Maintenance Center, located at Tocumen International Airport. The agreement also includes scholarship support for students and investment in equipment necessary for learning.

The Don Bosco Technical Institute proposal is promoted by the Civil Aeronautics Authority (AAC) and endorsed by the Panamanian Ministry of Education (MEDUCA), ensuring the highest educational and safety standards.

This initiative is a complement to the efforts that, since 2014, Copa Airlines has been making through its Aeronautical Technicians Academy (ATA), to train young Panamanian talent highly trained in aeronautical systems maintenance and inspection work. To date, 132 Panamanians have graduated from ATA and are part of the airline’s staff.
