Volotea transported more than 10 million passengers in 2023

After launching a historic supply of seats in Europe in 2023 and increasing supply in Spain, Volotea announced that it has achieved record results.

With an offer of more than 2.8 million seats (39% more than in 2022), Spain is positioned as one of Volotea’s fastest growing markets in 2023. The Spanish airline operated 17,400 flights between January and December, up 35% on the previous year, and carried more than 2.6 million passengers (up 37% on 2022).

In terms of routes offered, in Spain, Volotea has made more than 117 routes available to travelers, 58 of them exclusively, and has strengthened connectivity with the islands with almost 40% of the seat offer. In terms of occupancy, the airline has also achieved very positive results with an average occupancy rate of 93% on its scheduled flights.

In addition, 99% of the flights operated by the airline in Spain between January and December complied with the flight schedule (completion rate), with no changes or unforeseen events. In terms of punctuality, Volotea has remained on schedule in 2023, with 76% of its flights arriving on time (OTP15).

Volotea announces new route between Athens and Ancona (Italy)

By 2024, Volotea increases its capacity and launches a record offer of 3.5 million seats. In addition, it will offer 13 new connections from Spain. Some of the new routes are between Bilbao and the cities of Murcia, Castellón and Bari; the routes from Barcelona, Malaga and Menorca to the city of Brest, in French Brittany; the connection from Malaga to Bari; or the routes between Madrid and Valencia to the city of Verona.

In Europe

Across Europe, Volotea offered more than 410 routes in 2023 and operated more than 70,000 flights between January and December, which translates into 10.4 million passengers carried. In addition, 99.3% of the flights operated by the airline last year met the flight schedule, placing it among the top 3 European low-cost airlines.

Looking ahead to 2024, the airline plans to operate around 80,000 flights and offer between 12.5 and 13 million seats (12% to 16% more than in 2023) on nearly 450 routes and has announced the opening of two new bases, in Brest, in French Brittany, and in Bari, Italy.
