Within the framework of the ICAO Global Facilitation Forum held in Bogota, China expressed its willingness to bring the two countries closer together in order to shorten the routes. This followed a visit to that country by President Gustavo Petro, and then by Foreign Minister Luis Gilberto Murillo.

Sergio París Mendoza, general director of Aerocivil, explained that the objective is to have a direct route between the two countries or eventually with a single stopover, allowing all those traveling between Beijing and Bogota to shorten distances.
