Canadian airline WestJet announced Monday a new nonstop service between Calgary and Mexico City International Airport, set to begin on May 14, 2025.
With five weekly flights in both directions, the route will allow Canadians to explore Mexico’s rich culture and history while fostering trade and tourism across North America.
“WestJet’s continued investment in popular sun destinations has made us the gateway between Canada and Mexico, bolstering the vital commercial and tourism economies of both countries”, Daniel Fajardo, WestJet’s Vice President of Network and Schedule Planning, said.

The reintroduction of this route, which was last served in 2018, reconnects Alberta with one of North America’s largest consumer markets and one of the world’s leading trading hubs.
Leader in Canada-Mexico Connections
With this new route, the WestJet Group, including Sunwing Airlines, will reach a total of 13 Mexican cities connected to 24 Canadian cities by 2025. During peak travel periods, the group will offer over 200 weekly flights, positioning itself as the Canadian operator with the most direct routes to Mexico.
In 2024, WestJet already operated an average of 46 daily flights between Canada and Mexico, transporting more than 2.6 million passengers.
Expanding Options with Aeromexico
WestJet’s strong partnership with Aeromexico, established in 2011, enhances the travel experience. Passengers from Calgary can seamlessly connect beyond Mexico City to key destinations like Chihuahua, Guadalajara, Guanajuato, Merida, and Monterrey, all with the convenience of a single check-in.
