The Colombian aviation sector continues to solidify its position as a fundamental pillar of transportation. During January 2025, a total of 5,117,000 passengers moved through the country’s airports, a significant figure that reinforces the growth trend observed in recent years. This result adds to the record set in 2024, when more than 56 million people used air transport in Colombia.
Growth in domestic and international flights
According to the Office of Analytics of the Civil Aeronautics, the first month of 2025 saw an increase in the number of passengers on both domestic and international flights. In detail:
- 2,863,000 passengers traveled on domestic routes, representing an increase of 100,000 users compared to January 2024.
- 2,254,000 travelers made international journeys, a figure that grew by 261,000 passengers compared to the same period the previous year.
This growth in passenger traffic has been driven by airlines such as Avianca, Latam, Copa, Emirates, Gol, United, and Aerogal, among others. These companies have strengthened their flight offerings, allowing greater access to key destinations.

- The Dominican Republic, as the main arrival point.
- The Dutch Antilles and Puerto Rico, destinations that experienced a significant increase in tourist influx.
Increase in passenger movement within Colombia
Domestically, air traffic within the country recorded a growth of 3.6%, benefiting airlines such as JetSmart and Satena, which managed to expand their customer base. This increase reinforces the importance of air transport in regional connectivity and the local economy.
Cargo transport
The sector’s dynamism was not only reflected in the number of passengers but also in the movement of cargo and mail. During January 2025, 80,231 tons were transported, representing an increase of 2,712 tons compared to the same month the previous year. This growth reaffirms confidence in the country’s air logistics and its importance for international trade.
