Ryanair has filed a civil lawsuit in Polish courts to claim over €3,000 from a passenger who, according to the airline, caused an incident that forced Flight FR7124—operated on January 9 between Berlin and Marrakech—to divert to Seville.
The passenger’s behavior was described by Ryanair as “inexcusable” and led to an unexpected disruption for the 170 passengers and six crew members on board. After landing in the Spanish city, the passenger was removed from the aircraft by authorities.
A Zero-Tolerance Policy
The Irish airline emphasized its zero-tolerance policy toward unruly behavior on its flights. In this case, in addition to the lawsuit to recover costs incurred by the diversion, Ryanair has imposed a five-year ban on the passenger, prohibiting them from flying with the airline during that period. The passenger was also reported to Spain’s Civil Guard.

In the words of a Ryanair spokesperson: “It is unacceptable for passengers to endure unnecessary inconvenience due to the behavior of one disruptive individual. […] We have initiated civil proceedings to recover these costs from this passenger.”
Exemplary Measure to Deter Future Misconduct
Ryanair’s goal is not only to recover financial losses but also to set a clear precedent for other passengers. The airline asserts that it will take firm action whenever order on board is disrupted, in defense of the rights of other passengers and crew members.
The spokesperson added that such legal actions are part of the airline’s efforts to create a safe, comfortable, and respectful travel environment, protecting those who wish to enjoy their journey without interruptions caused by irresponsible individual behavior.
