Qatar Airways announced that it will relocate its New York operations to the new Terminal One at John F. Kennedy Airport (JFK) in 2026. The airline will inaugurate its first exclusive lounge in the United States there—a 1,400-square-meter (15,000-square-foot) space that will mark a milestone for its passengers’ experience in the region.
A Premium Lounge with Luxury Services
The new lounge will offer direct access to boarding gates, along with a range of services designed for business-class travelers. Highlights include:
- VIP check-in and dedicated airport transfers.
- Relaxation zones and prayer rooms.
- Play areas for children.
- High-end dining options and premium beverages.
- Exclusive duty-free shopping areas for Business Class customers.
With this move, the airline aims to further elevate the ground experience, aligning with its renowned onboard service quality.
Partnership with a World-Class JFK
The new Terminal One, a flagship project of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, is part of a $19 billion transformation that will position JFK as a global benchmark airport. This plan includes two new terminals, the modernization of two others, a ground transportation center, and a complete redesign of the internal road network.
Jennifer Aument, CEO of the new Terminal One, emphasized: “Qatar Airways is synonymous with excellence, and their decision to establish themselves in the terminal reaffirms the value we offer to international airlines looking to grow in New York.”
Qatar Airways Strengthens Its U.S. Presence
The airline has operated in New York since 2008, when it began services at JFK’s Terminal 8. Currently, its U.S. network includes 11 destinations, transporting over 3 million passengers annually. From the U.S., it offers 18 weekly flights, connecting to more than 170 global destinations through its hub in Doha.
Qatar Airways Group CEO Badr Mohammed Al-Meer stated: “Our new lounge at JFK will be an extension of the premium experience we offer onboard. From check-in to the finest culinary and retail offerings, our customers will enjoy the world-class service that sets us apart.”
With this investment, Qatar Airways solidifies New York as a cornerstone of its global network. The launch of the VIP lounge and the move to the new terminal reflect the company’s vision: to deliver a high-end product that accompanies every phase of the journey for its most discerning customers.
