Iberia has begun a key transformation in its flight operations with the implementation of the Electronic Tech Log Book (eTLB), a tool that replaces the traditional paper-based flight log. With this innovation, the airline introduces a more agile, secure, and efficient system for its crews, marking a turning point in its operational management.
Advantages of a Digital System
The eTLB not only replaces a physical record but also improves information traceability and automates calculations, reducing potential human errors. This real-time synchronization with technical and maintenance data streamlines processes and allows crews to log incidents during the flight without having to wait until landing.
To ensure operational continuity, the system includes backup support—a fundamental aspect in an environment where reliability is critical.

Progressive Implementation Across the Fleet
The eTLB implementation began with a trial phase on Airbus A321XLR aircraft. Following positive results, Iberia expanded its use to eight long-haul aircraft, consolidating a project that represents a firm step toward the digitization of its fleet.
This initiative was developed by the Standards Department of Iberia’s Flight Operations Directorate in response to direct feedback from flight crews. For the company, this project not only means technological modernization but also an improvement in the efficiency and safety of its flights—key aspects in today’s competitive aviation industry.
