Air Transat announced this Thursday a new direct route between Toronto (Canada) and Accra (Ghana), as part of its summer 2026 program. This non-stop service will begin on June 17 and run until October 22, with two weekly frequencies: on Wednesdays and Sundays.

Sebastian Ponce, Transat’s Chief Revenue Officer, highlighted that this will be the first and only direct connection between Canada and Ghana. “This non-stop service between Toronto and Accra aligns with our growth strategy on the African continent and directly addresses the needs of the Ghanaian diaspora in Ontario, as well as the growing interest in travel to Ghana. Furthermore, it eliminates the long European layovers that were previously necessary,” he stated.

The addition of Accra as a destination strengthens the airline’s presence in Africa, joining the recently announced services to Dakar (Senegal) and Agadir (Morocco), as well as the already established year-round operation to Marrakech. With this new route, Air Transat reaches four destinations on the continent, reinforcing a sustained and coherent expansion strategy.

More Options for Summer 2026 Travelers

The new connection is part of an increasingly diverse portfolio of destinations for the summer season, designed for those who wish to visit family, discover new cultures, or explore emerging locations. Air Transat continues to bet on routes that simplify the traveler’s experience and open up new opportunities for global connection.
