Air Transat has announced the implementation of its new interline and codeshare agreements with Turkish Airlines. This collaboration allows passengers to book combined itineraries with both airlines, facilitating travel between Canada, Türkiye, and multiple destinations in Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.

Thanks to this agreement, travelers can complete their entire journey with a single ticket and check their baggage only once, all the way to their final destination. Among the cities accessible via Turkish Airlines’ global network are destinations such as Tehran, Delhi, Colombo, and Beirut.

Codeshare: Toronto-Istanbul as the Starting Point

As part of the codeshare agreement, both airlines will place their respective codes on flights operated by the other carrier. This initiative begins with the routes between Toronto and Istanbul, and it is expected that more connecting flights will be added in the coming months.

Sebastian Ponce, Chief Revenue Officer at Transat, stated: “We are proud to partner with Turkish Airlines to offer our customers seamless access to one of the world’s most extensive networks. This collaboration not only reconnects our travelers with Istanbul but also opens the door to vibrant destinations in Türkiye, Asia, and beyond.”

Strengthening the Toronto-Istanbul Route

As part of this cooperation, Air Transat will add a new weekly flight to its year-round Toronto-Istanbul route. Starting May 28, 2026, an additional frequency will be offered every Thursday, bringing the total to three weekly flights.

Turkish Airlines Bolsters its Presence in Canada

Ahmet Olmuştur, Chief Commercial Officer of Turkish Airlines, commented: “We are pleased to partner with Air Transat and contribute to the bilateral relations between Türkiye and Canada. As one of the direct connectors between the two countries, we look forward to further strengthening our position in Canada.”

Turkish Airlines celebrated last year the 15th anniversary of its operations in Toronto, reinforcing its role as a bridge between Canada and the world through its three gateways: Toronto, Montreal, and Vancouver.

This agreement represents a significant step in both airlines’ strategies to enhance the passenger experience and expand their international reach. The combination of their networks allows for more efficient connectivity and a more attractive offering for those looking to explore destinations beyond the traditional ones.
