EVA Air continues to deepen its expansion in the United States. The company announced the launch of a new non-stop service between Taipei and Washington, D.C., starting June 26, with four weekly frequencies, strengthening its presence on the East Coast and expanding its North American network to 10 destinations.
With this addition, EVA Air becomes the airline with the most destinations and the most extensive flight network between Taiwan and North America, reaching a total of 98 weekly frequencies.
A Strategic Bet on the Political and Economic Heart of the United States
“North America has long been a key strategic market for EVA Air,” stated Clay Sun, president of the airline. Following last year’s opening of the route to Dallas-Fort Worth—which made EVA Air the only Asian airline with two destinations in Texas—the new link to Washington D.C. reinforces the company’s positioning in the U.S. market.
The executive emphasized that the non-stop service to the U.S. capital strengthens its presence on the East Coast and allows it to better serve one of the country’s most influential markets, characterized by its political weight and high concentration of global corporations.

Operations with Boeing 787-9 and Focus on Fourth-Generation Premium Economy
The Taipei–Washington D.C. route will be operated with Boeing 787-9 aircraft, configured in three classes:
- Royal Laurel Class (Business)
- Fourth-Generation Premium Economy
- Economy Class
One of the most notable elements is the incorporation of the new fourth-generation Premium Economy, which according to the airline offers the greatest seat pitch in the sector for its category. EVA Air points out that the design exceeds the traditional concept of “enhanced economy,” moving closer to an experience similar to business class.
