Korean Air has unveiled its renovated, state-of-the-art VIP lounge at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), a facility that redefines the airline’s premium experience at its primary North American gateway. This strategic investment marks the beginning of a global brand transformation ahead of its upcoming integration with Asiana Airlines.
A Next-Generation Lounge in the Tom Bradley International Terminal
Following a 22-month renovation process, the airline held a two-day grand opening event starting February 26, ahead of the official opening scheduled for March 6. The new space, located in the Tom Bradley International Terminal, is now the largest VIP lounge operated directly by the carrier outside of South Korea.
Key Infrastructure Features:
- Surface Area: 1,675 square meters, representing a 27% increase over the previous facility.
- Two-Level Distribution: The First Class Lounge is located on the sixth floor, while the Miler Club & Prestige Class Lounge occupies the fifth floor.
- Design: Developed by the Singapore-based hospitality design firm LTW Designworks.
- Ambiance: Features floor-to-ceiling windows and a terrace with panoramic views of the airport interior.
A Fusion of Tradition and Modernity: “Modern Korean Luxury”
The lounge’s interior design seeks to balance the vibrant energy of Los Angeles with the sophistication of Korean culture. The aesthetic utilizes warm wood textures and premium stone materials to embody the concept of “Modern Korean Luxury”.

The cultural experience is enriched by a curated selection of Korean art, including:
- Buncheong ceramics.
- Ink brush paintings.
- Dalhangari (traditional moon jars).

Korean Air has designed specific services for each traveler segment, elevating ground-based hospitality standards.
First Class Lounge: Exclusivity and Privacy
For first-class passengers, the space offers a personalized experience that transcends the traditional lounge concept:
- Private Suites: Two exclusive areas designed for total relaxation.
- A la Carte Dining: Fine-dining service featuring made-to-order dishes.
- Full-Service Bar: Craft cocktails and premium beverages managed by professional bartenders.
Miler Club and Prestige Class: Innovation and Local Flavor
- Live Station: An open kitchen where chefs prepare fresh dishes in full view of passengers.
- Local Touch: A selection of Southern California craft beers and an exclusive Los Angeles coffee blend.
- QR Technology: Miler Club members can request special menus directly from their seats using a digital ordering system.
In addition to the gastronomic offerings, the lounge features business zones, family areas, and premium shower facilities to freshen up before the flight.
Strategic Strengthening and Global Expansion
The renovation at Los Angeles (LAX) is a critical step, as this airport serves as the airline’s key hub connecting Asia, the United States, and Latin America. According to David Pacey, Executive Vice President and Head of In-flight Service and Lounges, this opening will deliver a differentiated premium travel experience and exceed the expectations of global customers.
Access to these facilities will be available to eligible airline passengers and premium customers from SkyTeam alliance partner airlines.
Following the West Coast inauguration, Korean Air plans to continue the expansion of its global infrastructure. The next step will be the unveiling of its renovated lounge at New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK), scheduled for later this year.
