As part of its ongoing commitment to the Austin, Texas, community and the enhancement of the customer experience, American Airlines has announced the construction of a new and expanded Admirals Club. This initiative aims to reflect the city’s vibrant spirit while offering the thoughtful design and premium amenities that both business and leisure travelers expect from the carrier.
Dimensions and Innovative Design
The new lounge will feature cutting-edge architectural and functional characteristics:
- Surface Area: The space will exceed 12,000 square feet, representing double the size of the current facility at AUS.
- Location: It will be situated on the west side of the terminal.
- Outdoor Terrace: The standout feature will be an exterior space, marking the first time American has introduced an open-air lounge area across its entire global network.
- Panoramic Views: Guests will be able to enjoy expansive views of downtown Austin and the airfield.

Experience Zones and Premium Amenities
The Admirals Club design is structured under a “distinct zones” concept to balance style, comfort, and functionality based on traveler needs:
- Relaxation and Recharge: Specific areas for resting before the flight.
- Productivity: Spaces designed for working in comfort.
- Dining: Dining areas with enhanced offerings.
Furthermore, customers transiting through Austin will benefit from the airline’s recent strategic partnerships, which include Lavazza coffee and Bollinger Champagne (the latter available for purchase in lounges across the network).
Connectivity at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport
American Airlines maintains a robust presence in the Texas capital, facilitating global connectivity for residents of Central Texas:
- Daily Operations: Nearly 50 daily flights.
- Direct Destinations: 11 destinations from Austin.
- Global Network: Access to more than 350 destinations worldwide through its connection network.
Access and AAdvantage Membership
The airline has simplified the ways in which passengers can access these premium experiences through the AAdvantage program:
Entry Options
| Access Type | Requirements / Cost |
| AC Membership | Annual Admirals Club membership holders. |
| Credit Cards | Citi / AAdvantage Executive World Elite Mastercard or Globe card passes. |
| oneworld Status | Members with qualifying oneworld status. |
| Day Pass | Available for $79 or 7,900 AAdvantage miles. |
| Flagship Lounge | For international travelers in Flagship cabins with Platinum status or higher. |
Construction of the new lounge is set to begin this year. To ensure passenger comfort during this expansion process, the current Admirals Club will remain open and operational until the new facility is ready to welcome travelers.
