Copa Airlines Returns to Eastern Venezuela: Flights to Barcelona Resuming in June

Copa Airlines announced this Thursday the restart of its operations in Barcelona, Anzoátegui state, beginning June 2, 2026. With this reactivation, the airline completes the recovery of its destination network in Venezuela, joining its current services in Caracas, Maracaibo, Valencia, and Barquisimeto.

Restoring Connectivity in Eastern Venezuela

The airline’s return to General José Antonio Anzoátegui International Airport represents the fifth and final destination that remained to be activated in the country. This operation aims to expand travel options for passengers in eastern and southern Venezuela, facilitating access to a network of more than 85 destinations in 32 countries across the American continent.

Roberto Pulido, General Manager of Copa Airlines in Venezuela, highlighted that Barcelona is an essential piece in the company’s trajectory, which began flights to said city four years ago. According to the executive, this is the final step in recovering the total operational capacity maintained until 2024.

Operational Details and Schedules

The route will initially operate with three weekly frequencies on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. The established itinerary to connect with the Hub of the Americas in Panama is as follows:

  • Flight CM100: Departs Panama at 9:35 a.m., arriving in Barcelona at 1:18 p.m.
  • Flight CM492: Departs Barcelona at 2:28 p.m., landing in Panama at 4:20 p.m.

Towards the end of June, the airline plans to make schedule adjustments and increase additional frequencies to reach a total of 41 weekly flights between Venezuela and Panama.

The reactivation of this destination allows travelers to connect seamlessly with key cities in the region without the need for immigration or customs procedures during the connection in Panama. Among the benefited markets, the following stand out:

  • Mexico: 5 cities connected.
  • The Caribbean: More than 20 destinations.

Additionally, passengers can opt for the Panama Stopover program, which allows a stay in Panama City for up to fifteen nights at no additional airfare cost.
