JetBlue and United Airlines have announced the rollout of reciprocal benefits and perks for eligible members of their respective frequent flyer programs, TrueBlue and MileagePlus, when traveling across either carrier’s network. This step marks one of the most highly anticipated milestones within their strategic collaboration, known as the Blue Sky alliance.

Network Coordination and Exclusive Perks

The integration of these loyalty benefits follows the successful implementation of their interline and sales agreement, which already allows passengers to earn and redeem points, as well as book flights, through both airlines’ website channels. With this new phase, the carriers consolidate their commitment to delivering a seamless, fully connected travel experience for their customers.

Loyalty program members who enter their frequent flyer number into their reservation will receive the following priority services and amenities when traveling across both airline networks:

  • Priority Boarding: When flying on JetBlue, Premier Platinum and Premier 1K members will board with Group 1; Premier Gold members with Group 2; and Premier Silver members with Group 3.
When flying on United Airlines, Mosaic 2, 3, and 4 customers will board with Group 1, while Mosaic 1 tier members will board with Group 2.
  • Complimentary Extra-Legroom Seating: Available during the check-in window, covering EvenMore Space seats on JetBlue and Economy Plus seats on United Airlines.
  • Priority Check-in and Expedited Security Screening.
  • Complimentary Preferred Seat Selection immediately following booking confirmation.
  • Complimentary Checked Bag Allowance along with priority baggage handling.
  • Same-Day Standby Options on the day of travel.

Strategic Value for Frequent Flyers

Ed Pouthier, Vice President of Loyalty and Personalization at JetBlue, noted that this evolution of the Blue Sky alliance significantly enhances the value delivered to the most loyal customers of both brands. The initiative aims to strengthen loyalty credit earning and redemption options, providing meaningful, seamless, and unparalleled value across shared network environments.

Next Steps: Moving Toward a Single Interline Ticket

Since the inception of the Blue Sky cooperation in May of last year, shared booking and purchasing traffic has operated smoothly across the companies’ digital platforms. Future plans for both airlines aim to allow users to complete itineraries involving both carriers under a single, connected interline ticket.

This next step will streamline passenger transit by combining JetBlue’s network of leisure destinations with United Airlines’ robust domestic and international route infrastructure, including United Express operations. In doing so, the alliance continues to expand flexibility and personalization within the commercial aviation customer experience.
