Aircraft leasing company Azorra has signed a firm agreement with Embraer for the acquisition of 15 additional E195-E2 jets, a move that not only consolidates its fleet but also marks a historic milestone for the Brazilian manufacturer by surpassing 500 orders in its E2 program.
A Strategic Agreement with Additional Purchase Rights
The new contract between both companies is not limited to the 15 firm aircraft. The agreement incorporates purchase rights for another 15 additional jets, providing Azorra with significant operational flexibility to respond to the future requirements of its customers.
With this latest addition, Azorra’s firm order book for the E2 family increases from 39 to 54 aircraft, breaking the 50-unit order threshold for the first time. This order represents the third expansion made by the leasing firm to its original contract, initially signed in December 2021.
Historic Milestone for the Embraer E2 Program
The significance of this transaction also lies in its impact on the South American airframer. By adding these 15 units, Embraer’s E2 program has officially surpassed 500 orders received.
Since its market introduction, the E2 jet family has maintained steady growth in the commercial aviation industry:
- Fleet in service: There are currently more than 200 operational aircraft worldwide.
- Operator base: The E2 family boasts 24 customer airlines across multiple regions.
- Operational purpose: It allows operators to efficiently right-size capacity, reduce fuel burn, and improve the passenger experience.

For his part, Arjan Meijer, President and CEO of Embraer Commercial Aviation, valued the leasing company’s role:

Efficiency and Comfort
The E195-E2 is the largest commercial aircraft designed by Embraer to date. In today’s market, it stands out ideally thanks to its technical and commercial attributes:
- Sustainability and performance: Recognized for its low fuel consumption, reduced emissions, and quiet operation.
- In-flight experience: Its two-by-two (2-2) seating configuration completely eliminates the middle seat, guaranteeing greater passenger comfort.
