Turkish Airlines and Air China have signed an agreement to expand their codeshare cooperation, reinforcing the alliance between both carriers. This strategic expansion significantly enhances connectivity between Turkey and China while extending the reach of their route networks to key destinations across Africa, Latin America, and the Chinese domestic market.
Strengthening the Alliance in Beijing
The agreement was signed during the opening ceremony of the 4th China Air Transport Association (CATA) Aviation Conference and Exhibition in Beijing. Through this signing, the two flag carriers deepened a partnership built on their shared membership in the Star Alliance.
This development builds upon the free-sale codeshare agreement implemented in June 2024, which initially covered non-stop flights between Istanbul and Beijing. Under the expanded framework, the partnership now encompasses all trunk non-stop routes between Turkey and China, while adding select domestic beyond-Beijing sectors and international beyond-Istanbul services.

Route Network Expansion and New Connecting Destinations
The new operating framework progressively enhances connectivity and transit services between both airlines’ hubs, allowing combined itineraries to be issued on a single ticket:
Connections for Turkish Airlines Passengers in China
Turkish Airlines passengers will gain access beyond Beijing to a wider selection of destinations across mainland China, including:
- Shenzhen
- Chongqing
- Xiamen
- Hangzhou
- Nanjing
- Qingdao
Connections for Air China Passengers via Istanbul
Air China travelers will benefit from additional connecting flights through Istanbul to the Turkish domestic market and intercontinental routes operated by Turkish Airlines:
- Turkey: Ankara.
- Africa: Accra, Lagos, Marrakech, Dar es Salaam, Algiers, and Tunis.
- Latin America: Cancun and Mexico City.
Deeper Bilateral Network Integration
With the ability to book single-ticket itineraries across both networks, passengers gain greater booking flexibility and seamless transfers when planning travel between China, Turkey, and destinations worldwide. Looking ahead, both carriers plan to further extend their codeshare cooperation to newly launched direct routes between Turkey and China, solidifying a strategic partnership designed to support bilateral trade, tourism, and cultural ties.
