Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, has commenced direct operations between Abu Dhabi and Luxembourg Airport, becoming the first Middle Eastern carrier to operate passenger service to the Grand Duchy. The strategic service operates four times weekly, addressing robust market demand since reservations opened in January 2026.

Inaugural Flight and Operations

The inaugural service, operating as Flight EY51 from Abu Dhabi, touched down at Luxembourg Airport, greeted by the traditional aviation water-cannon salute courtesy of airport fire and rescue services. The four-weekly scheduled route delivers a key nonstop link catering to both corporate and leisure passenger traffic.

Antonoaldo Neves, Chief Executive Officer of Etihad Airways, emphasized the significance of the milestone within the carrier’s network expansion strategy:

“2026 has been a year of strong network growth for Etihad, and Luxembourg is a standout addition. We are proud to serve the Grand Duchy with our signature three-class cabin experience right from the inaugural flight, and we look forward to welcoming onboard guests from Luxembourg and the wider region, whether they are visiting Abu Dhabi or connecting across our global network.”
