Alaska Airlines will launch its first-ever nonstop route between Anchorage and Narita International Airport in spring 2027. The seasonal service, subject to government approval, will establish a strategic direct link between the state of Alaska and the Asia-Pacific region, bolstering bilateral trade and tourism.

Anchorage Network Expansion and 95 Years of Operations
The addition of Tokyo service anchors a broader 2027 network expansion for Alaska Airlines in Anchorage, which will mark the carrier’s largest-ever schedule of nonstop routes from the state:
- Anchorage – Austin: Seasonal nonstop service operating weekly on Saturdays, running from June 12 through August 7.
- Anchorage – Dallas/Fort Worth: New seasonal nonstop route.
- Anchorage – Nashville: New seasonal nonstop route.
Highlighting the milestone, Alaska Airlines Regional Vice President Marilyn Romano noted that the carrier has connected local communities since 1932, and this transpacific service fulfills a long-standing market demand:
“Our ambitions are global, but our roots remain the same. From the beginning, Alaska Airlines has connected communities in Alaska, the West Coast, and beyond. From Anchorage to Tokyo and destinations worldwide, we are building on that legacy and giving our guests more ways to see the world on Alaska Airlines.”
The route rollout aligns with Alaska Airlines’ 95th anniversary of continuous operations, strengthening connectivity between the region, the Asian market, and key destinations across the contiguous United States.
